Proverbs 10

1 The proverbs of Solomon:

A wise son makes a glad father,

But a foolish son is the grief of his mother.

2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing,

But righteousness delivers from death.

3 The LORD will not allow the righteous soul to famish,

But He casts away the desire of the wicked.

4 He who has a slack hand becomes poor,

But the hand of the diligent makes rich.

5 He who gathers in summer is a wise son;

He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.

6 Blessings are on the head of the righteous,

But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

7 The memory of the righteous is blessed,

But the name of the wicked will rot.

8 The wise in heart will receive commands,

But a prating fool will fall.

9 He who walks with integrity walks securely,

But he who perverts his ways will become known.

10 He who winks with the eye causes trouble,

But a prating fool will fall.

11 The mouth of the righteous is a well of life,

But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

12 Hatred stirs up strife,

But love covers all sins.

13 Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has understanding,

But a rod is for the back of him who is devoid of understanding.

14 Wise people store up knowledge,

But the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

15 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city;

The destruction of the poor is their poverty.

16 The labor of the righteous leads to life,

The wages of the wicked to sin.

17 He who keeps instruction is in the way of life,

But he who refuses correction goes astray.

18 Whoever hides hatred has lying lips,

And whoever spreads slander is a fool.

19 In the multitude of words sin is not lacking,

But he who restrains his lips is wise.

20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver;

The heart of the wicked is worth little.

21 The lips of the righteous feed many,

But fools die for lack of wisdom.

22 The blessing of the LORD makes one rich,

And He adds no sorrow with it.

23 To do evil is like sport to a fool,

But a man of understanding has wisdom.

24 The fear of the wicked will come upon him,

And the desire of the righteous will be granted.

25 When the whirlwind passes by, the wicked is no more,

But the righteous has an everlasting foundation.

26 As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes,

So is the lazy man to those who send him.

27 The fear of the LORD prolongs days,

But the years of the wicked will be shortened.

28 The hope of the righteous will be gladness,

But the expectation of the wicked will perish.

29 The way of the LORD is strength for the upright,

But destruction will come to the workers of iniquity.

30 The righteous will never be removed,

But the wicked will not inhabit the earth.

31 The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom,

But the perverse tongue will be cut out.

32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable,

But the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.

Friday Five

{1} So, Tuesday we were supposed to have soccer practice (so I thought!). Well, by around 2ish, it was raining.. so practice canceled, right?! WRONG! And not only was it still on.. it was a GAME! AHHH!! Chris has class on Tuesday nights, so that left me and two kids rushing around trying to make it in time! Of course, it had rained, so that meant rainboots! UGH! We got there at about 5:40, unloaded the car.. about lost it when Ethan removed his rainboots b/c they were muddy – um, hello.. it RAINED!... rushed two kids, chairs, soccer equipment and all to the field, only to stand around for the next 10 min until her coach got there to tell us where to go! OH.MY.GOODNESS… what a night! Not to mention that by the end of the game Ethan had removed the boots, the muddy socks and was just running around barefoot! I’m sure that was REAL sanitary! I think I dislike soccer about as much as LK does! ;)

{2} ALL summer McDonald’s was selling their large cokes for $1. It was GREAT! Well, it’s been a few weeks since I had gone to get one. So, I pulled into the drive-thru and asked for a large coke.. $1.90.. WHAT?! I asked why and the lady was very rudely so kind enough to tell me that they were no longer $1! Gosh.. day ruined, right there!

{3} I took Ethan to school this morning.. 20 min from my house only to realize that I had left my purse (license, money, belongings..everything) at home! I had to drive ALL the way back home to get everything and then head ALL the way back out to where I originally was! I swear, my mind is just a big ole scatterbrained mess sometimes!

{4} Why can't the rain go away?! Just asking...

{5} We've been using the same dry cleaner for a few months now and like them ok. Their work is pretty good and they're not overpriced.. works for me! So, just when I think that I'm really starting to like them I come home with THREE shirts ruined! You know the plastic attachments they use to put the ticket on your item?! Well, instead of putting it through the tag, they put it through the actual shirts! 2 of Chris's polos (Lacoste and Vineyard Vines) have 2 holes in the back of each and one of my blouses from Banana is the same way! OH, I am NOT ok with that! I asked the owner what the policy was and he told me that they refund 10% of the shirt cost. Umm.. NO! You are NOT giving me $7 for for brand new $70 polo! You will be replacing it.. Yes, you will!

Show Us Your Life: Tailagtes & Favorite Teams

Ok... well, most of you probably know me well enough to know that when it comes to college football ONE team has my heart. Oh how I cherish my OLE MISS REBELS!!! And in my opinion there is no better tailgating tradition in the entire nation! (although any SEC team is pretty dang good in that department!) I could tell you all day long all the things I adore about my beloved Grove, but I left the professionals do it for me....

But in Oxford lies, as promised, the most magical place on all of God's green, football-playing Earth: The Grove. A school of red and white and blue tents swimming in a shaded 10-acre forest of oak trees, floating in an ocean of good will and even better manners.
I didn't know the rules at the Grove, rules like: "Don't bother showing up before 4 a.m." Sure, space is at a premium, but for a 6 p.m. game against Memphis? Who would? Apparently everyone, when you consider the masses who actually do arrive promptly at four.
Another rule: "The Grove closes at midnight," though it's often violated. Because of the old Bible Belt standard (no liquor sales on Sundays), it's the only place fans -- and players -- can get their post-postgame swill.
My most egregious rules violation: Dress as if you're attending a baptism. Ironic then that I, the most underdressed of the bunch, was the one being baptized. Holy water would have spit me back up, but they don't drink holy water in Mississippi. They drink bourbon.
Yes, they drink bourbon and eat boiled peanuts and finger sandwiches from sterling-silver platters and serving dishes arranged by caterers and frantic moms on elaborate tabletops. They partake in front of flat-screen TVs with DirecTV, underneath chandeliers and amongst intricate candelabras and ornate flower arrangements. And when football calls, they pay people like Andre, at the Rebel Rousers tent, to stand guard.
The Ole Miss-isms keep coming. When nature calls, they don't "whiz," they "potty" -- at the Hotty Toddy Potty, or its companion, the Hotty Toddy Potty Too. And players don't just walk to the game. They walk like "champions." Read: in their best shirts and ties. Like adults.

As in real estate, location is paramount at The Grove. The day before a Rebels home game, fans arrive early to get a spot along the path of the pregame Walk of Champions, during which player and coaches are cheered as they walk under the famous arch of the same name and through The Grove en route to the stadium.
"It's like a land rush every Friday to find your spot," Rogers said.
At The Grove, where snapshots of pregame gatherings could be used as magazine ads for Ralph Lauren, what's on your back is almost as important as what's on your plate.
"We have a long-held tradition among Ole Miss students," Rogers said, "that the women will wear dresses and high heels. The men will wear Khaki pants, navy blazers and ties."
Legend has it that the women of Oxford, Miss., will go on summer shopping sprees to find just the right outfit for The Grove.
"I've heard stories of women who will go shopping in New York before the season," Rogers said. "If there are seven home games that year, they will buy seven outfits for The Grove."
That's commitment.

Yes, that is my sweet, sweet Grove! There is absolutely no other place on the Earth quite like it! Like heard many times over the years... "Ole Miss - We may not win every game.. but we have NEVER lost a party!" Ah... I can smell the bourbon now... Yes, I wore dresses and heels. Yes, I strapped flasks of bourbon to my legs to sneak pass stadium security. Yes, I sang along to "Dixie" with pride with my red and blue pom pom waving. Oh, those were the days! :) And, just in case you're wondering.. Yes, I visited the "Hotty Toddy Potty" on several occasions! ;)

Proverbs 9

1 Wisdom has built her house;

she has hewn out its seven pillars.

2 She has prepared her meat and mixed her wine;

she has also set her table.

3 She has sent out her maids, and she calls

from the highest point of the city.

4 "Let all who are simple come in here!"

she says to those who lack judgment.

5 "Come, eat my food

and drink the wine I have mixed.

6 Leave your simple ways and you will live;

walk in the way of understanding.

7 "Whoever corrects a mocker invites insult;

whoever rebukes a wicked man incurs abuse.

8 Do not rebuke a mocker or he will hate you;

rebuke a wise man and he will love you.

9 Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still;

teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning.

10 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,

and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

11 For through me your days will be many,

and years will be added to your life.

12 If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you;

if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer."

13 The woman Folly is loud;

she is undisciplined and without knowledge.

14 She sits at the door of her house,

on a seat at the highest point of the city,

15 calling out to those who pass by,

who go straight on their way.

Proverbs 8

1 Does not wisdom call out?

Does not understanding raise her voice?

2 On the heights along the way,

where the paths meet, she takes her stand;

3 beside the gates leading into the city,

at the entrances, she cries aloud:

4 "To you, O men, I call out;

I raise my voice to all mankind.

5 You who are simple, gain prudence;

you who are foolish, gain understanding.

6 Listen, for I have worthy things to say;

I open my lips to speak what is right.

7 My mouth speaks what is true,

for my lips detest wickedness.

8 All the words of my mouth are just;

none of them is crooked or perverse.

9 To the discerning all of them are right;

they are faultless to those who have knowledge.

10 Choose my instruction instead of silver,

knowledge rather than choice gold,

11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies,

and nothing you desire can compare with her.

Ok, I know I promised this WAY earlier this week and I truly do apologize! I just dont know where the week has gone!

Well, you all know that on Sunday of this past weekend, it was rainy and gross, so we took the kid's to see the Toy Story double feature. (go here) But Saturday, on the other hand, was absolutely gorgeous!! You could not have asked for a more perfect "summer going into fall" day! We started the day off with LK's soccer game.. the first one in over a month! So, we were so excited to get all the family together and cheer on our little soccer star! She, of course!, kicked butt on the field and blocked TWO HUGE kicks at the end of the game, which caused the game to be tied! Horry for LK!! She had a blast! (still doesn't like soccer.. but she had fun.. ha!)

After the game, we took advantage of the incredibly beautiful day and headed out to visit the Memphis Botanic Gardens. In August, they opened a new section of the gardens designed specifically for children. It's called "My Big Backyard" and it was a blast!! We packed a picnic and spent 3 glorious hours running around and having a ball! If you live in Memphis or a nearby vicinity, I HIGHLY recommend taking your kiddos! We will definitely be going again... ALOT!

LK wanted to take these home.. so if anyone knows where I can get some butterfly chairs like these she would appreciate it greatly.. ha!

Yes, I love this man... I really really do!

So.. there was a big bird's nest.. I thought it would be a cute picture. These two stepped in and immediately struck the same pose. Absolutely hilarious.. and proof that she is indeed a clone of her father! Not only does she look like his twin.. she acts JUST LIKE HIM! Best picture.. EVER!

After we left the gardens, we stopped by Whole Foods for some shopping. Oh how I love some Whole Foods!! So, all in all, it was a perfect day! Those are the types of days I live for.. lots of smiles, ridiculous amounts of laughter and huge bear hugs as they're falling asleep as you put them in the car. Motherhood... 100% love it!

Day 7 . . .

Proverbs 7

1 My son, keep my words

and store up my commands within you.

2 Keep my commands and you will live;

guard my teachings as the apple of your eye.

3 Bind them on your fingers;

write them on the tablet of your heart.

4 Say to wisdom, "You are my sister,"

and call understanding your kinsman;

5 they will keep you from the adulteress,

from the wayward wife with her seductive words.

6 At the window of my house

I looked out through the lattice.

7 I saw among the simple,

I noticed among the young men,

a youth who lacked judgment.

8 He was going down the street near her corner,

walking along in the direction of her house

9 at twilight, as the day was fading,

dressed like a prostitute and with crafty intent.

Proverbs 6

1 My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor,

if you have struck hands in pledge for another,

2 if you have been trapped by what you said,

ensnared by the words of your mouth,

3 then do this, my son, to free yourself,

since you have fallen into your neighbor's hands:

Go and humble yourself;

press your plea with your neighbor!

4 Allow no sleep to your eyes,

no slumber to your eyelids.

5 Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter,

like a bird from the snare of the fowler.

6 Go to the ant, you sluggard;

consider its ways and be wise!

7 It has no commander,

no overseer or ruler,

8 yet it stores its provisions in summer

and gathers its food at harvest.

9 How long will you lie there, you sluggard?

When will you get up from your sleep?

10 A little sleep, a little slumber,

a little folding of the hands to rest-

11 and poverty will come on you like a bandit

and scarcity like an armed man.

12 A scoundrel and villain,

who goes about with a corrupt mouth,

13 who winks with his eye,

signals with his feet

and motions with his fingers,

14 who plots evil with deceit in his heart—

he always stirs up dissension.

15 Therefore disaster will overtake him in an instant;

he will suddenly be destroyed—without remedy.

16 There are six things the LORD hates,

seven that are detestable to him:

17 haughty eyes,

a lying tongue,

hands that shed innocent blood,

18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,

feet that are quick to rush into evil,

19 a false witness who pours out lies

and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

20 My son, keep your father's commands

and do not forsake your mother's teaching.

21 Bind them upon your heart forever;

fasten them around your neck.

22 When you walk, they will guide you;

when you sleep, they will watch over you;

when you awake, they will speak to you.

23 For these commands are a lamp,

this teaching is a light,

and the corrections of discipline

are the way to life,

24 keeping you from the immoral woman,

from the smooth tongue of the wayward wife.

25 Do not lust in your heart after her beauty

or let her captivate you with her eyes,

26 for the prostitute reduces you to a loaf of bread,

and the adulteress preys upon your very life.

27 Can a man scoop fire into his lap

without his clothes being burned?

28 Can a man walk on hot coals

without his feet being scorched?

29 So is he who sleeps with another man's wife;

no one who touches her will go unpunished.

30 Men do not despise a thief if he steals

to satisfy his hunger when he is starving.

31 Yet if he is caught, he must pay sevenfold,

though it costs him all the wealth of his house.

32 But a man who commits adultery lacks judgment;

whoever does so destroys himself.

33 Blows and disgrace are his lot,

and his shame will never be wiped away;

34 for jealousy arouses a husband's fury,

and he will show no mercy when he takes revenge.

35 He will not accept any compensation;

he will refuse the bribe, however great it is.
