Fancy Nancy Tea Party: LK's 6th Birthday!

Even with the icy weather conditions that came in on Friday, we still had LK's tea party on Saturday morning. Really, just because the girl was in tears by Friday afternoon in fear that her party would be canceled. She's been anxiously awaiting this party since Christmas! So, between LK crying and the other little girls being upset that they might not get to go.. the party went on! Luckily, most of the little girls and family members were able to brave the streets and make it! Although, we definitely missed the ones who weren't able to!

I was up till about midnight finishing the last of the decorating and was awake again at 3am to start baking! I was able to send Chris to Kroger early Saturday morning to get scones, muffins and turnovers - I was SO glad that I didn't have to make those! He also went and picked up LK's Petite Fours! They were absolutely gorgeous!! I am so happy we chose to get them instead of a cake! Perfect for a tea party!

Everyone started arriving around 11:30 and it was just adorable to watch all the little girls come inside in their dress up clothes! We made everything as fancy as we could, and of course had pink everywhere in site!

The food was delicious! We had Quiche Lorraine, Tea Biscuits w/ Jellies, Cucumber Dill Toasties, fruit, chicken salad on crossaints and chicken salad on apples. As well as the pastries Chris picked up! It was all just so yummy! My sweet grandmother even handed down her silver trays to me a little early, so I could use them for the party! :)

I made menu cards for all the food items!

The cutest petite fours!!

Sweet Miss G!

The girl's table! We pulled out Great Great Grandma Luttrell's china and Great Grandma Kessler's Crystal Goblets! It was just adorable! And so sweet that we could have a little bit of all the Grandma's with us!

Each little girl also had their very own place card!

The cake pops in the center are from Bakerella's recipe! They were absolutely DELISH! (and super easy to make!)

An Icy Mess!

On Friday, the winter weather that is always predicted but never hits, FINALLY hit! Although, it wasn't the pretty snow we were wanting! Instead it was just a 2inch sheet of ice covering everything! The weather started coming in around 9 Friday morning. Schools were canceled early that morning. Luckily, Chris' work had already told him to stay home, so we bundled the kiddos up and made a quick run to Kroger for last minute goodies!

It actually turned out to be probably the most eventful trip to Kroger we've ever taken! As were bustling through the aisles, with all the other 200ppl who decided to make a "Kroger Run", LK spotted her favorite Food Network star! Yep, we were sharing our aisle with Mr. Pat Neeley himself! Now, you may think that I'm over exaggerating about The Neeley's being LK's favorite, but trust me.. they are! She even does the "Sprinkle Fairy" at home!! She LOVES The Neeley's!!

So, we saw him around the store a few more times, with LK getting more and more star struck each time. When we finally got to the checkout lane, guess who was right in front of us.. Pat! So, of course, LK was just staring him down, dying to go talk to him! I told her that she could, but she was too timid to do it on her own. Well, I guess he saw her, so he walked right up to her! I asked him if he wouldn't mind if she said hello, and he didn't mind at all! I have to say.. he was the nicest man! He bent down and spoke to her, he even told her Happy Birthday! :) He then picked her up and let me take their picture!! Lilly Kate could barely say a word! ha! (and this child is NEVER speachless...)

We are so lucky that we went to Kroger when we did, b/c the weather got really bad as the afternoon went on. We ended up having quite the icy mess on our hands! We definitley stayed indoors and kept warm!
On Sunday, we finally made it outside to "play"! The kid's were definitely disappointed when they discovered that it wasn't fun snow! :( They only stayed out for about 10 minutes!

The dogs definitely didn't know what to think of all the ice! Especially Huck.. he did not like it at all!

By Sunday afternoon, the roads were starting to clear up a bit, so we ventured to the mall for a little shopping! Everyone was definitely wound up from being stuck at home for two days!

Schools were closed again Monday, but by Monday afternoon, with temps in the mid-40s, just about everything was melted! So, back to school today!! :) Hopefully, the next time we get "winter weather" it's actually SNOW and not ice! :)

What A BIG Day!

I think LK's birthday turned out to be pretty wonderful! She really seemed to enjoy herself. I picked her up from school and she was wearing the cutest "Happy Birthday" crown and every teacher I saw just commented on how adorable she was in her crown. (of course, LK just ate up all the attention! ha!)

When we got home, LK went to take her after-school nap. So, Ethan and I got busy making cookies! He loved getting to help!

When Daddy got home, he had the sweetest surprise for his girl. He stopped and got her lillies! So, he and E went up to wake her up!

(as you can tell.. she not the happiest person in the world when she wakes up! ha!)

her mood quickly changed though when she got her birthday gift!! BITTY BABY!!

She was so excited about Bitty Baby (who she named "Anna") and her flowers! And she was even more excited to find out that school was canceled for the next day!! (more on that later!)
