Disney On Ice

This past weekend was a hectic one for sure! It started Saturday with Chris and the kids going out to Arlington for a birthday party. Usually I would go along, but I had prior engagements.... LK's ballet company is performing The Nutcracker for Christmas and needed volunteers. With my ballet and backstage knowledge, I volunteered.. not really thinking much of it. Until I got an email asking me to actually perform a part in the show! So on Saturday I put ballet shoes on my feet and spent two hours in the studio for rehearsals! It was the first time I've even put ballet shoes on in almost 10 years! And boy was my body hurting the next day!!! My legs were BURNING! Even though all of the other girls were in their teens, I think I kept up pretty well though! ha! ;) We have rehearsal every Saturday until the show in December. So, if you get a chance, say a little prayer that my legs dont give out on me! ha!

After the first party and rehearsal, we met at home and headed to party #2 for the day. The kids didn't last long at that one though! E was VERY rambunctious and LK was starting to not feel well. So, we called it a night and headed home. LK slept from 6 that night till 8 the next morning... she was SO sick! Poor thing!!

Sunday, we went to visit Nana and Papaw. Papaw had surgery last week and the kids had made get well cards for him. So, we had to go visit so they could deliver their masterpieces and we could check up on him.

After we left Nana and Papaw's, we went home for naps! We had to make sure everyone was well rested for our super fun activity planned for that night! :)

We surprised the kids with tickets to Disney On Ice!! LK has been before, when it's just been the princesses, but Ethan hasn't been. When we heard that Buzz and Woody would be in the show, we just knew that we had to get tickets! So, after naps, they got dressed up and we headed downtown!

Snow White!

The show was about celebrations.. everything from birthdays, to holidays, to the different seasons.

SO excited!

Celebrating Summer by having a luau.. Lilo and Stitch were there! :)

We had special visits from Alice and Wonderland & Gang celebrating birthday's with a tea party, the Disney villians - Captain Hook, Jafar, Malificent and the witch from Snow White - celebrating Halloween, all the Disney princesses celebrating Valentine's Day, plus a few others.. THEN, came the highlight of the show... the Toy Story Gang celebrating CHRISTMAS!!!

Ethan was SO excited!! He had been waiting the entire show to see them!

And of course Tinkerbell was there!

It was such an exciting show and everyone LOVED it.. as you can tell! ha!

Dermatologist & Guest Post

So, Monday I made my very first trip to the dermatologist! Yes.. I am almost 30 years old and have never once been to the dermatologist. I've been blessed with pretty good skin, so I've never had any issues that have forced me to go. But seeing as how I am fair-skinned, red headed and have freckles.. it's about time, right?!

Well, a few weeks ago, I noticed a spot on my nose that I had never noticed before. So.. overly-reactive me made an appointment. And, of course, was obsessing over the spot every day leading up to the apointment. {driving my husband crazy is more like it.. b/c of course no one other than me could notice it! ha!} So.. I went in. Told the Dr. about the spot. And, just like everyone else.. told me I was crazy! haha! Basically just some freckling that looks a bit different. All clear on that! WHEW!

THEN.. while examining me, she notices something else! WHAT???! Something that I hadn't even noticed!! She said that there was a "pearly" spot right under my bottom lip that "looked funny".. her exact words.. "looked funny"! (really???!) So, right then and there, they numb lip and chin area and biopsy the spot! OH MY GOODNESS!!! ok... so I couldn't feel anything she was doing {thank the good Lord!}, but she as she would do something, she would explain it to me. So, they numbed (with a HUGE NEEDLE! - YIKES!) and then slightly cut the area to expose it and then scraped it away... yes, you read that right.. SCRAPED! Then, of course, b/c the lip area bleeds like crazy, they had to cauterize it. So, she got out her handy dandy little lazer beam and did just that.

At this point, I hadn't seen myself, so I had no idea how I looked. When I did... I wish I hadn't! ha! My entire bottom lip was about 3 times it normal size.. I looked like a carpool mama gone mad on botox! ha! and I had a huge (ok, so it was actually the size of a pea) black mark on my face! I was a hot mess for sure! Luckily the swelling went down by the end of the day, but I still have a "scab" of sorts where they cauterized it. This is what I look like today... 2 days later..

{and yes.. this is my no-makeup, middle of the week, 5 hours of sleep look! gorgeous, i know! ha!}

Talk about a crazy experience! She continued to examine the rest of my body, but lucky found nothing else to cut on! She did tell me that I need to start coming in for regular check-ups! WOW! Who knew a 27 year old girl needed to be worried about skin cancer??! I am definitely ALOT more aware now! And will definitely start visiting my dermatologiest more frequently. (Besides.. it's never too early to start considering those botox treatments for all the stress wrinkles you kids cause! haha!) I should have the results of the biopsy later this week.

On another note... I'm guest blogging over at Caroline's blog today.. go take a peek! :)

Weekend.. Finally!

SO.. FINALLY.. a post about our last weekend!

It was definitely a big one for our sweet E! He had his very first soccer practice!!! :) I am SO excited that Ethan is finally old enough to play sports! HE LOVES SPORTS!!! You should see the amount of balls we have in our house.. everything from tennis balls to footballs! And not to mention the knowledge he has of sports! He is definitely a "jock"! ha!

He was ridiculously excited about getting to play soccer!! He had been talking about it for weeks! LK spent the night with my mom Friday night, so that left E with our full attention at practice.

can you tell how excited he is???!

He did SOOO good!!! He is a great kicker!

Practice was GREAT!!!

After practice we took him to Swanky's for a taco. He LOVES Swanky's!

He was EXHAUSTED after soccer and a taco!

Saturday morning, I actually had the entire morning to myself. Ethan, Huck and Chris went to the Dog Park at Shelby Farms and I went to get my hair cut and to get a mani/pedi! It was AMAZING!!! I actually kind of feel like a woman again.. not like a "MOM"! ha! After my apts, I met the boys for lunch. Then, I was off to a ballet meeting for LK! She's in The Nutcracker this year! We are SOOO excited! :)

After the meeting, we headed to Bartlett to pick LK up from my mom. They had a pretty exciting morning too... Mom treated her to lunch and to an apt at Sweet and Sassy. She came home with her hair done, a new bow and cotton candy hair spray! (a 6 year old's dream! haha!)

Sunday, I cleaned house and we finished up a very fun and exciting home project!!! I will post pics soon, I promise! :)

I hope everyone is having a great week!!! and YAY for fall shows starting this week!!!!

Fireman to the Rescue!!

Last week was Fire Safety week at school, so we had a visit from the firemen!!! Ethan was SO excited!!! The firemen came in their truck and talked to everyone all about fires... how there are good fires and bad fires, what to do if there is a bad fire and to NEVER be scared of the firemen in their uniforms! They gave all the kiddos a tour of the firetruck and even let them climb inside! At the end of their talk with the kids, they had a special surprise... they turned the hose on and sprayed water all over the back lawn of the church! They kids LOVED it!!!

my little man! i couldn't help but make him this little shirt!

my sweet class at 2nd! (cora, causey, margaret, teddy, mark, sarah grace, charlie, lela, alexa, anna, kirsten and cristian)

What made the day even more special is that the fireman who was talking to us is the dad of one of my students!!! Kirsten was so surprised to find out that her daddy was there!

Fireman Chris (aka - Kirsten's Daddy) showing us that a fireman is not scary with his mask on!

He was SOOO excited!!!

taking a peek at all the fun stuff on the firetruck!

Ethan and his friend Thomas... of course, Thomas had to have a matching shirt! :)

my 12 sweet ones!

We had SUCH a fun time learning all about fire safety! After the visit from the firetruck we even learned how to "STOP, DROP, and ROLL!" (and boy was THAT fun!!! haha!)

Top 2 Tuesday : Hair Products!

This week Taylor is discussing our Top 2 Hair Products!
I am always switching up hair products... if I use anything at all! Let's face it... my hair is in a pony tail 99% of the time during the week! ha! BUT.. when I do get the opportunity and time to fix my hair.. these are my current faves..

{1} Bumble and Bumble Styling Creme and Lotion

The creme you can put on after you towel dry hair.. It gives a little extra volume and makes it easier to style. (gives your hair a little hold without weighing down)

The lotion you can spritz on after you blow dry and style section by section with your method of choice. I LOVE it!

{2} Catwalk Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner

I've actually used this for quite a while and just love it. It's my go-to hair product! It smells pretty good too! :)

What are your faves???! Head over to Taylor's blog and see everyone else's!
